Experimental Archaeology-Making chicken bone beads the hard way.







don't try and break them too soon as you will have to grind off your mistakes against a stone, and that takes a lot more time than doing a little more incising.





dig out the marrow with a cactus spine.

don't use too much force or you will crack the bone.  also, i cheated by using my stove to boil out the remnants of the marrow.  could have used the local ants to help with this step, but i don't have that much time.  also, for drilling the holes, i chipped pieces off a stone, multiple times, as they dull pretty fast...

two useable beads in about an hour and a half.  not too shabby for my first attempt at paleolithic chicken scrap art.
